A Saudi center ranked three Israeli universities among the world’s top 10 in various subjects.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), an initiative launched by Saudi Arabia and based in the United Arab Emirates, has listed three Israeli universities in its inaugural subject rankings.
The rankings showcase the top global universities in 227 subjects, covering academic fields in science and social science.
CWUR uses eight objective and robust indicators to rank the world’s top 1,000 universities, including quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, research and influence.
It lists Haifa’s Technion – Israel Institute of Technology as the world’s top school for aerospace engineering, and among the top 10 in the “computer science – theory and methods” (No. 4) and “computer science – information systems” (No. 8) categories.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was ranked fourth in the subject of logic, and Tel Aviv University was listed among the top 10 schools for “physics – fluids and plasmas” (No. 6) and computer science – theory and methods (No. 7).
“While Israeli universities achieved positive results, they should invest more in research if they aspire to be more competitive globally,” said CWUR President Dr. Nadim Mahassen.
The top 10 universities are: Harvard, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Oxford, Columbia, Berkeley, Chicago, Princeton and Yale.
