Immediate action is required in support of the French leadership in its determination to prevent a dangerous deal.
French President Francois Hollande and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius have been courageously opposing a deal between the P5+1 and Iran that would relax crippling economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
It was France’s resistance that delayed the signing of an agreement that would allow Iran to continue its uranium enrichment program.
In Geneva, during the first round of negotiations earlier this month between the global powers and Iran, Fabius warned the West against accepting a “sucker’s deal.”
“France will not make concessions on nuclear proliferation,” French President Francois Hollande declared on Nov. 17, 2013, upon arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport. “France will maintain all measures and sanctions until we are certain that Iran has renounced nuclear weapons.”
Acquiescing to Iran’s terms would empower a cruel, totalitarian regime.
Any deal that fails to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program would threaten Israel’s very existence and profoundly endanger the entire world.
The six global powers are meeting again in Geneva on Wednesday to renew negotiations with Iran, and they have expressed eagerness to finalize a six-month deal. In this case, sanctions would be relieved, while Iran would have no need to dismantle its nuclear program.
Israeli leaders across the political spectrum are united with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his serious effort to prevent a “very bad deal” with Iran.
In 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain made a deal with Hitler and promised “peace in our time.” The result was World War II. We must be persistent in our pledge not to allow a new Holocaust. Never again!
