Sukkot is a time for families to travel throughout the Land of Israel and to appreciate Jewish nationhood.

The Hebrew nation will soon greet the seven-day holiday of Sukkot.

The holiday’s main feature is, of course, the sukkah, the makeshift hut enjoyed throughout the festival.

The holiday of Sukkot in Israel is a time for family and for hiking, trips and tourism. Taking advantage of the long vacation and ideal autumn weather, families enjoy the sites and scenery throughout Israel.

Sukkot is also a time for festivals of many themes. Workshops, yoga, contemporary dance, martial arts, acrobatics, storytelling, music, the Jerusalem municipality’s giant and colorful sukkah, the Jerusalem March, and the Puppet Theater & Film Festival are just a few of the many events held across the country during the fetive holiday.

One can find a massive sukkah at these events, hosting entire families eating together.

A particularly outstanding feature is the traditional Birkat Kohanim (priestly blessing) at the Kotel (Western Wall). More than 200,000 worshippers attend the mass morning prayer service at the there, when hundreds of priestly descendants raise their arms amidst a sea of white prayer shawls and a green forest of palm branches while reciting aloud three biblical verses of Heavenly blessings.
