A terrorist from Jabel Mukaber, an Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem known as a hotbed of anti-Israel violence, was eliminated after stabbing two Border Police officers in the Old City.
Muhammad Ibrahim Mattar, 25, a Palestinian Arab resident of Jerusalem, was shot and killed during a stabbing attack early Monday morning at the Lion’s Gate entrance to the Old City, where he wounded two Border Police officers.
Both victims were moderately injured and treated by paramedics before being evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem. Their condition is stable, a hospital spokesperson said.
Four suspects are being questioned in connection with the attack after police raided the terrorist’s home in the Jabel Makaber neighborhood, known as a hotbed for anti-Israel incitement.
A resident hailing from the same neighborhood was arrested last week on suspicion of attempted arson.
In January, terrorist Fadi al-Qanbar, also from Jabel Mukaber, rammed his truck into a group of IDF soldiers at the Armon Hanatziv Promenade, wounding four and injuring at least 15, some seriously. The victims were all around 20 years of age.
