On October 7th, Hamas kidnapped over 200 people from southern Israel. While dozens were released in a ceasefire-hostage deal in November last year, the terror group still holds over 100 hostages, including two children, Kfir and Ariel Bibas.
Sagui Dekel-Chen is among those kidnapped and recently turned 36 while in captivity. His wife, Avital, appeared on national TV to celebrate his birthday and bring attention to all the hostages.
Holding their newborn baby, whom Sagui has yet to meet, Avital blew out a candle and prayed for his swift return. She expressed hope for next year’s birthday, envisioning a celebration with their family finally reunited.
