Last year, the spotlight shone on basketball player Jared Armstrong as he embarked on a lengthy journey to secure Israeli citizenship. Despite his Jewish upbringing and completion of a Conservative conversion to support his citizenship quest, Armstrong faced repeated rejections until finally obtaining temporary residence in May.

Unfortunately, this ordeal also resulted in Armstrong losing his spot on Hapoel Haifa, a team in Israel’s premier basketball league, after his contract was voided due to delays in acquiring citizenship.

Setting aside the setbacks, Armstrong is now shifting his focus to a cause close to his heart: fostering stronger ties between the Jewish and Black communities. He remains committed to bridging divides and promoting unity.
