Onn Henner, the artist who created this video is from Tel Mond, Israel.
He explains “As a photographer I traveled the world and saw many places. But, as someone who lives in Israel, I feel that I must showing the world its beauty. Therefore, I made this unique time lapse video, created from thousands of stills images, showing the beautiful landscapes of Israel – the Holy Land.”
Rabbi Goldsmith explains that every Jewish person has a connection to the Land of Israel. “If a person speaks bad about the land, they are in essence speaking about about a person. When you see the video, you see how beautiful the land is. Why would anyone who is Jewish want to live somewhere else? This is their place, their home. People want to live where their home is.”
Rabbi Goldsmith notes “One issue I had with Onn Henner’s video is that it did not portray the Jewishness of the video. The place the video leaves off is the Dome
of the Rock. Jews are not even allowed to go up to the Temple Mount. It is a shame that he was not able to show the Jewishness of the land. There were two Jewish Temples that stood on the place where there is the Dome of the Rock.”
Rabbi Goldsmith adds “Soon in our days we hope that all the Jewish people will return to the land of Israel, and the world will see the full beauty of Israel. Israel is a place that is not like any other place. People can miss the souls and spirituality of the Land. Onn Henner did a good job with clever photography, but it is a shame he doe snot capture the inner message of Israel. Can you really do that on film? You have to focus on it.”
Yocheved Golani of Bet Shemesh, Israel describes the piece: “The pulse of life emanates from the land of life: humanity was launched on the word of God, still whispering, singing, roaring and soaring in the sea, sky and air. Israel tells the story.”
Delta Vines of Imperial, Missouri writes “Oh, way cool! I love how Onn was able to use the time lapse and integrate it with “normal time” in the foreground. Amazing! Then – the way it all starts coming together at (I think it was) a shul? Then progressively all is in sinc (time speed and time frame) as we look at the sun going down behind the Temple Mount. All the rushing of the video just comes to a halt, and peace envelopes the video as we look at the Temple Mount at night. Reminds me of Shabbat. Quiet, still, peace. Shalom.”
