The emergency call center in Kiryat Ono, near Tel Aviv, says it has begun receiving 5,000-6,000 calls daily about the coronavirus – a 700 percent increase in recent days.

Questions concern treatment, isolation, and how to distinguish between the virus and other illnesses, as the symptoms are not very differenct from those of the common cold or flu.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this week that Israel is “dealing with a global pandemic.”

Thus far, 17 Israelis have been diagnosed with COV-19, while tens of thousands are in quarantine for fear of having contracted the virus.
