On Friday morning, border police at the Tapuach Junction in Samaria prevented a suicide bomber from fulfilling his mission.

On Friday morning, a suicide-bombing attack was thwarted by alert security at the Tapuach Junction in Samaria.

A security source told United with Israel that a man was spotted lying on the ground, wearing a long coat in the extreme heat, which raised suspicions.

Asked to remove the coat by security, he initially refused and remained on the ground.

Security forces immediately arrested him and discovered a suicide belt with 12 bombs connected to a battery. At the time of this writing (11 am), they are taking it apart.

It is not yet known whether the terrorist, a man in his 20s from Nablus (Shechem), intended to commit a suicide bombing attack in that region or take a bus to a more densely populated area, such as Tel Aviv, the source told UWI.

“The intent of the suspect is not yet clear,” said chief commander Shlomi Yosef. “What is certain is that vigilance and professionalism led to the arrest of the suspect and discovery of the explosive belt, which likely prevented a serious disaster.”
