Princeton University’s Department of African American Studies is set to host a disturbing two-day conference on April 3–4, 2025, titled “The Anti-Zionist Idea: History, Theory, and Politics.”
Far from academic inquiry, this event promotes the delegitimization of Israel—the world’s only Jewish state—and fosters an openly hostile climate for Jewish students.
The conference’s stated goal is to “articulate and rigorously engage” with anti-Zionism.
Let’s be clear: Anti-Zionism is not a benign political stance—it is the rejection of Jewish self-determination and national identity.
Targeting the only Jewish country in the world and “rethinking” the legimitacy of its existence is not academic discourse; it’s antisemitism, plain and simple.

It is especially outrageous that this event is being sponsored by a department created to fight racism and promote justice. Has Princeton forgotten that Jewish Americans were early allies of the civil rights movement, marching arm in arm with Dr. King and even giving their lives to secure equal rights?
This conference singles out Israel for elimination while ignoring the histories of actual settler-colonial nations.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics.
By promoting the idea that the Jewish state is illegitimate, Princeton is violating both moral standards and federal law.
It’s time to say NO to antisemitism disguised as scholarship.
