UCLA suspended Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine (GSJP) last month following a dangerous and unlawful protest outside the private residence of UC Regent Jay Sures.

The protest escalated into acts of vandalism and intimidation, prompting UCLA’s Office of Student Conduct to issue a four-year suspension. That suspension was meant to restrict GSJP from operating in any official capacity on campus.

However, on April 15, just weeks after the suspension was announced, GSJP brazenly advertised its first general meeting of the quarter on Instagram, openly defying university policy.

This is not a bureaucratic oversight. It is a test revealing UCLA’s integrity. A suspended group is still functioning, organizing, and spreading extremist rhetoric—without consequence.

UCLA claims to uphold values of safety, inclusion, and accountability. Yet its inaction sends a very different message: Rules can be ignored, and Jewish students must tolerate a group that has already proven hostile and dangerous.

Suspension should mean full restriction from organizing or operating on campus. Anything less is performative discipline.

The current situation raises serious questions about selective enforcement, especially when the university has a duty to protect all students from harassment, intimidation, and hate.

This issue goes beyond campus politics. When a university allows a suspended, antisemitic, pro-terror group to continue organizing, it signals to students and the broader public that antisemitism is not taken seriously.

Subject: Urgent: Enforce GSJP Suspension at UCLA

To the UCLA Administration,

I am deeply concerned that Graduate Students for Justice in Palestine (GSJP), despite being suspended, continues to operate at UCLA. Their recent announcement of a meeting on April 15 openly defies university policy and undermines trust in your administration’s commitment to student safety and rule of law.

I urge you to take immediate action to enforce GSJP’s suspension. UCLA must not tolerate selective enforcement, especially when Jewish students’ well-being is at stake.

Sincerely,
