Elon Musk’s initiative should inspire all of us to join, especially in Israel, where planting trees helps Israeli farmers who are struggling and makes the Holy Land even more beautiful.

When technology entrepreneur, investor and Tesla head honcho Elon Musk donated $1 million to a tree-planting campaign by YouTube sensation Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, did he realize his name in Hebrew means “tree”?
After making this generous donation, which is enough to plant 20 million trees by 2020, the billionaire changed his Twitter handle to “Treelon.”
At this point, it isn’t clear whether some of these trees will be planted in Israel, where literally millions of trees are planted every year through the generosity of those who love the Land and strive to be part of fulfilling biblical prophecy.
“The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord”
(Isaiah 51:3)
“Planting trees in Israel – especially fruit trees – offers people the ability to help Israel on so many levels,” Michael Gerbitz, founder of United with Israel explained.
“It improves the environment, makes the land more beautiful, helps Israeli farmers who are struggling financially, and facilitates the fulfillment of more biblical commandments.”
“Above all,”, Gerbitz continued, “it enables one to develop a deep connection with the Land of Israel and brings blessing not only to the land – but to those who contribute to the cause.”
Thus far, through generous donations from supporters around the world, United with Israel has planted tens of thousands of trees throughout the Holy Land.
“Donaldson’s TeamTrees project is commendable and received huge donations from many famous and wealthy people,” Gerbitz said. “But our love for Israel and our desire to build, strengthen and beautify the Land is our driving force in the United with Israel tree planting campaigns.”
United with Israel hopes to plant 12,000 trees in Israel in memory of the 11 people murdered at the Tree of Life synagogue terror attack in Pittsburgh one year ago and the lone victim in the Poway synagogue shooting in California, Lori Gilbert-Kaye.
“Besides all of the amazing benefits of planting thousands more fruit trees, this campaign will go a long way to help Israeli farmers combat the ‘tree terror’ that Israel has faced from arson fires that have destroyed thousands of dunams of the Land that we love,” Gerbitz said.
“We have now come to the end of Israel’s hot summer months. Israel’s rainy season is upon us. Now is the time to replenish the Land by planting trees.”
