Despite ISIS’ mounting global threat, Israel is safe, Israel’s Defense Minister said.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said that Israel has effectively created a deterrence against the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group operating out of Syria, and ISIS has not launched a front against Israel from the Syrian side of the Golan Heights in northern Israel.

Speaking to Israel’s Reshet Bet Radio on Monday, Ya’alon said Israel was closely monitoring ISIS’ activities in Syria and its supporters in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria. Overall, Israel is not worried by the threat ISIS poses to it, and Israeli security forces have been successful in foiling attempts by ISIS to operate against Israel.

His comments came just days after ISIS terrorists carried out multiple terror attacks in Paris late Friday, murdering 129 and wounding over 300, leading many Western countries to reassess the threat ISIS poses to them and their citizens.

Israel has arrested several terror cells linked with ISIS operating in Judea and Samaria, and has arrested several Arabs with Israeli citizenship who have operated with ISIS in Syria or who have attempted to do so.

ISIS has recently published a clip in Hebrew directly threatening Israel. “My message to the officers and soldiers and all the Jews, the grandchildren of the monkeys and the pigs, we are coming for you from around the world to slaughter you like sheep. Prepare for war – a big war, the war of the stone and the trees. And this will happen soon, it is not far off, with God’s help,” said a knife-wielding ISIS member on video, his face blurred out.

However, the minister expressed concern about the Iranian presence in Syria, saying that the Iranians have tried to establish a front against Israel in the Golan, but have failed to do so.

Israel has reportedly carried out several strikes over the past year against Iranian elements which have tried to establish a military network north of Israel in conjunction with the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terror organization.
