In a condolence letter to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, Abbas Zaki, a member of Fatah’s central committee, called assassinated terrorist Samir Kuntar a “national hero.”

Abbas Zaki, from Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah faction, used the term “national hero” in a condolence letter he sent to Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, in the wake of the targeted killing of Kuntar near Damascus Saturday night, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) revealed on Tuesday.

In the letter, Zaki also referred to Kuntar by his informal title,”Dean of the Prisoners,” bestowed upon him by Hezbollah after he served 30 years in an Israeli jail for the murder of a Nahariya family in 1979.

Calling Kuntar a “Palestinian martyr” — in spite of his having been a Lebanese Druze — Zaki described his death as a tragedy both for the Palestinian people and for Lebanon.

In addition, Zaki vowed to continue on Kuntar’s path, until “[all] Arab and Palestinian soil is purged of the Zionist occupation and [its] criminal gangs.”
