IDF confirms soldier lightly wounded in stabbing attack in Arab village in Samaria.

The IDF on Thursday confirmed that during a terrorist stabbing attack which took place earlier in the day in the village of Huwara in Samaria one IDF soldier was lightly wounded.

The soldier repelled the terrorist – identified only as a woman – and neutralized her with the help of another soldier who was at the scene of the attack.

The unidentified soldier received initial medical treatment on location and was sent for further treatment at a hospital.

His family was informed.

The attack comes after a series of terror attacks carried out against Israelis in the village in recent weeks.

On Feb. 26, Israeli brothers Hallel Menachem and Yagel Yaakov Yaniv were murdered in Huwara in a shooting while sitting in their car at a junction on the highway.

This was followed by another shooting on March 19 at the same junction, which seriously wounded a dual Israeli-U.S. citizen, David Stern, 41.

On March 25, terrorists fired at a military post from a vehicle driving through the village, wounding two soldiers.

A public opinion poll conducted in early March showed that 71% of Palestinians support the terrorist murder of the Yaniv brothers. Only 21% of those surveyed were against it and similar armed attacks.

In response, the number of lanes on Route 60 at Einabus Square in Huwara was doubled, from two to four. The IDF also removed a traffic circle at Yitzhar Junction that had been built as a traffic safety measure. Both projects are aimed at increasing speeds through the terror-stronghold village until the completion of a bypass road.

Also, a large number of IDF personnel have been deployed to the area and 13 new defensive positions were built to discourage attacks and to reduce response times in the event they take place.

The IDF’s Samaria Brigade has also bolstered security inspections, including the deployment of additional checkpoint barriers.
