Israeli forces thwarted a Palestinian terrorist attack near Neve Tzuf (aka Halamish) in the Binyamin region of Samaria on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, the terrorist was armed with a bomb and a firearm, which he aimed at troops stationed at a checkpoint on Route 450.
The forces shot and “neutralized” the terrorist, with paramedics later declaring him dead.
Palestinian media identified the terrorist as 33-year-old Bilal Ibrahim Qadah from the village of Shuqba, near Ramallah.
There were no other injuries reported.
Binyamin Regional Council chief Israel Ganz said, “A few minutes ago, IDF soldiers eliminated a terrorist who arrived at the Neve Tzuf checkpoint from Nachliel. The terrorist was armed with an explosive device and an improvised rifle and was going to harm soldiers and civilians.
“Our soldiers shot and killed him, and with that, they prevented a terror attack, thank God. Thank you to the IDF commanders and soldiers for the great response,” Ganz said.
On Sunday evening, a security guard thwarted a stabbing attack at the Ammunition Hill light rail station in northeastern Jerusalem.
The lone terrorist attacked the light rail guard, who shot her in the leg. The assailant was the only casualty.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his government’s policy to combat Palestinian terrorism, saying that whoever murders Israelis “will end up in one of two places: prison or the grave.”
Netanyahu began his remarks at the weekly Cabinet meeting by extending condolences to the families of Chief Sgt. David Yehuda Yitzchak, 23, a non-commissioned officer from the Egoz commando unit who was killed last week as Israeli forces withdrew from Jenin following a two-day counterterrorism raid, and Staff Sgt. Shilo Yosef Amir, 22, a member of the Givati Brigade who was shot dead two days later by a Palestinian terrorist seeking to infiltrate the town of Kedumim.
Last Tuesday, a Palestinian terrorist drove his car into pedestrians at a bus stop on Pinchas Rosen Street in Tel Aviv’s northeastern Ramat Hahayal neighborhood.
He then got out of the vehicle and stabbed additional victims with a sharp object, police said. There were seven victims in total.
One woman who was seriously injured subsequently lost her baby while fighting for her life in the hospital.
Her condition has since improved, and she is expected to survive.
