The Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization is calling on its followers in Western countries to carry out terror attacks during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, which begins in June.

The message, published on Saturday and purporting to come from an ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, told ISIS’ followers that “Ramadan [is] the month of conquest and jihad. Get prepared, be ready … to make it a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers … especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America.”

The message calls for attacks on both military and civilian targets.

Al-Arabiya reports that the authenticity of the audio clip could not be verified.

“The smallest action you do in their heartland is better and more endearing to us than what you would if you were with us. If one of you hoped to reach the Islamic State, we wish we were in your place to punish the Crusaders day and night,” Adnani said.

“Their planes do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, man or woman,” the message continued, in apparent reference to the strikes by the US-lead anti-ISIS coalition.

Al-Adnani has issued similar calls to attack Western targets in the past.

In September 2014, al-Adnani called on Muslims in the US and Europe to attack the “disbelievers.”

“Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling. Both of them are disbelievers. Both of them are considered to be waging war,” he stated.

In March 2015, al-Adnani threatened Jews and Christians, saying they have two options in order to be accepted under Islamic caliphate rule, which he asserted would one day spread to Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem: convert to Islam or pay the Jizya poll tax, which is paid by minorities under Muslim rule and ascribed by Sharia law.

Addressing ISIS terrorists, he said that nothing can stand in their way. “Go ahead, for Mecca, Madina, Al-Quds [Jerusalem], and Rome are awaiting you,” he declared.
