In yet another Islamic terror attack in France, a visibly Jewish man was stabbed by young men wearing ISIS shirts, uttering anti-Semitic slurs.
A visibly orthodox Jewish man was stabbed in Marseilles, France, Wednesday evening by three Islamic State supporters. His life is not in danger.
Marseilles prosecutor Brice Robin said three men on bikes approached the victim, a history teacher at a local Jewish school, on the street.
“The three people insulted, threatened and then stabbed their victim in the arm and leg. They were interrupted by the arrival of a car and fled,” Robin told Reuters, adding that one of the assailants was wearing a t-shirt with the Islamic State logo.
Police prefect Laurent Nunez told AFP that they were uttering anti-Semitic insults during the attack. They fled when a car arrived at the scene.
Michele Teboul, president of the local branch of the CRIF umbrella organization of French Jews, told JTA that a young man approached the teacher, a bearded Jew with a skullcap, and showed him a cell phone with a picture of Mohammed Merah, a French jihadist who killed a rabbi and four children at a Jewish school in Toulouse in 2012.
French aliyah (immigration to Israel) has risen dramatically in the past few years due to rising anti-Semitism in that country. In January four people died in an Islamic terror attack at a kosher supermarket in Paris.
France is now “at war” with ISIS, President Francois Hollande stated in wake of multiple Islamic terror attacks on Friday evening that killed 129 people and wounded more than 350.
