Outgoing Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor reprimanded the UN for its refusal to stand up for Israel while Israelis die in Palestinian terror attacks.
Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, used his last address to the UN on Friday to attack the UN for its silence in the face of the wave of Palestinian terror, instigated by the Palestinian leadership, that Israel’s citizens have been suffering from over the past weeks.
Prosor called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) and Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to denounce these attacks “in a clear and unequivocal manner.”
“Israelis are being attacked and murdered in the streets, in their vehicles and even in their homes, and the UN stands by in silence,” Prosor charged.
Prosor demanded that the UN speak out against “the campaign of incitement, violence and terror, currently waged against the people of Israel.”
“As my final act as Israel’s ambassador, I wish to stress the urgency of this situation that requires immediate action,” the envoy said.
The escalation in terrorist attacks and killings is “a result of the ongoing instigation to violence by the Palestinian leadership,” Prosor said.
“Palestinian officials continue to use inflammatory rhetoric and dangerous incitement, intensifying this wave of terror against Israeli citizens, and it must stop,” he demanded.
The UN has yet to come forth with such a denouncement.
However, Ban issued a statement last Wednesday condemned the killing of Palestinian terrorists by Israeli security forces, but failed to mention the Israeli victims of the attacks.
Former Minister of Science, Technology and Space Danny Danon will replace Prosor as Israel’s envoy at the UN on Monday.
