Although Buaron had never assisted in a live birth before, he used his training with MDA to help the woman deliver her son successfully.

Ilan Buaron thought it would be a regular shift at his food service company, but he ended up delivering more than pizza.

The 22-year-old, who was employed by Wolt, an Israeli food delivery service, and also a Magen Dovid Edom (MDA) emergency volunteer, was out late Tuesday delivering pizza in Ramat Gan.

He drove his scooter to the restaurant to pick up the pizza and was on his way to make the delivery when he received an MDA announcement asking for assistance for a woman given birth in Ramat Gan.

Buaron realized the woman was very close to where he was driving, and instead of delivering the pizza right away, he changed his route with the pizza and headed towards the woman’s residence.

When Buaron arrived, he saw the woman’s husband and mother, and the woman was in advanced stages of labor.

Although Buaron had never assisted in a live birth before, he used his training with MDA to help the woman deliver her son successfully.

Buaron also found the time to message Wolt that he couldn’t deliver the pizza because he was helping a woman giving birth.

The text to his employer read, “I received a notification of an active birth on the way to the delivery address. I stopped here and helped the woman deliver her baby, and I’m going to stay here a little longer.”

Wolt asked the restaurant to make a new pizza and delivered it to the customers, who most likely understood when they were told why their pizza was late.

The pizza Buaron was in the middle of delivering fed the ambulance team that arrived on the scene.

If only every late delivery had such a good reason and a heartwarming story behind it.
