The IDF, Israel Security Agency and Israel Police uncovered a vast Hamas terror network in Judea and Samaria. Funding and direction came from Hamas headquarters in Qatar and Gaza.
In a joint operation, the IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency/ISA) and Israeli Police uncovered yet another terror cell in Judea and Samaria, the latest being a vast Hamas network located in Qalqilya, which borders the central Israeli city of Kfar Saba.
The heads of the network, who ran the regional headquarters, were operating to renew Hamas activity in the area and plotting terror activity, the IDF announced on Tuesday morning.
The network was directed, guided and funded by members of Hamas headquarters in Qatar and the Gaza Strip.
Overnight Monday, 24 operatives were arrested, including senior Hamas operatives who had been arrested previously for participating and planning Hamas terror activity. Israeli security also seized approximately 35,000 NIS ($9,000) designated for terror activity.
The Hamas infrastructure in Qalqilya is one of the oldest and most established in the Judea and Samaria region, the ISA stated.
“This episode uncovers the ongoing activities of Hamas headquarters abroad and in the Gaza Strip, as well as the activities of local West Bank infrastructures, to realize their goal of building up their forces, with a view of reaching organizational and military readiness,” the security agency added. “Their end goal is to carry out terrorist attacks and engage in military activity against Israeli targets.”
