Jerusalem’s Municipality is deploying advanced surveillance methods to combat the persistent wave of Arab violence in the city.
Jerusalem’s Municipality is taking the fight against increased Arab rioting in the city to the next level and launching a new aerial surveillance unit. The unit will operate in conjunction with other security forces acting to end the recent wave of Arab violence afflicting Israel’s capital.
The new unit will use surveillance balloons, which can see deep into the Arab neighborhoods and warn security forces of dangerous riot mobs forming, and it can be used to track assailants after they have already executed their attacks. The municipality will further use the surveillance equipment to track and fight criminal activity within the city.
The new security team will deploy five balloons for starters, and there are plans to launch further observation methods in the future.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat vowed to continue the war on Arab terror in his city.
“As I have been saying for the past months, the situation in Jerusalem is unbearable and we must act decisively against any occurrence of violence in the city,” he stated. “The new surveillance unit will provide us with real time assistance to the police and the security forces in an efficient and quick fashion.”
Violence in the Capital Persists
Arab rioters continue meanwhile with their rock-throwing and other terror attacks on Israeli targets. On Wednesday, for the second time in three days, Arab rock-throwers ambushed a car in the vicinity of the Old City. No one was injured, but the car was heavily damaged.
Jerusalem’s light-rail system was targeted again. Rocks thrown at the train smashed some windows.
