The e-commerce giant is urging Israeli retailers to be ready by September 12 and to prioritize stock that is appropriate for the upcoming holiday season.

After several delays, Amazon has provided Israeli retailers with a new date for the launch of its service in Israel. A local version of its website, says Amazon, will be ready on September 12.

Amazon sent an email to registered retailers on Monday, urging them to ensure that their stock is ready and advising them to prioritize their products.

At the center of such prioritizing is the upcoming Jewish holiday season.

Amazon has felt the need to link its launch to a heavy-shopping period and therefore was rushing to ensure that operations were functional for the longest Jewish and Israeli holiday period of the year, which begins with Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year – and concludes a few weeks later with Simchat Torah.

The holidays are celebrated according to the Jewish calendar. According to the Gregorian calendar, the holiday season lasts this year from September 29 to October 22.

Therefore, Amazon is working in the limited timeframe to urge retailers to immediately push products that might be popular for the season.

“Please give priority to your top sellers and the biggest hits you believe will sell best during Rosh Hashanah,” says the letter which has been distributed.
