A delegation of four Knesset lawmakers departed for Bahrain on Thursday to participate in a conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The visit is the first by Israeli parliamentarians since the signing of the Abraham accords.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is an international organization of national parliaments from 178 countries.
The Israeli delegation is being led by MK Danny Danon. Also participating are MKs Yifat Shasha-Biton, Elazar Stern, and Dan Illouz.
In meetings with their counterparts from around the world, the Israeli lawmakers will discuss issues such as Iran, judicial reform protests and Israeli-Palestinian relations — particularly how other countries can help defuse tensions ahead of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
It is understood that the Israelis will press international lawmakersto condemn Palestinian terrorism and Palestinian Authority terror stipends, and support further sanctions on Iran and its nuclear program.
The conference began on Saturday.
