Two Israelis, orphaned by terror attacks during the Second Intifada, just got married!

By United With Israel Staff

In the years 2000-2005, Palestinians engaged in numerous suicide bombings, rock throwings and gunfire against Israeli citizens. Called the “Second Intifada,” over 1,000 Israelis were murdered in cold blood.

Among those killed were the parents of Avigdor Gavish, David and Rachel, and his brother Avraham.

Four months later, the parents of Ayelet Dikstein, Hannah and Joseph, were murdered, along with her brother Shubal.

Following these tragedies, Ayelet and Avigdor joined a support group for orphans provided by the “OneFamily” Fund. Over the years, the two bonded and became a couple.

This week, they married in a garden in central Israel with extended family and friends in attendance.

Avigdor’s family members were killed at the end of the Passover seder in 2002, when he was a 19-year-old soldier. A Palestinian terrorist infiltrated their home in Elon Moreh in Samaria. The terrorist opened fire, murdering his parents, grandfather and brother.

Ayelet’s family members were killed while traveling from Psagot, in the Binyamin region, to relatives living in Mount Hebron. Their car was attacked by terrorists and burst into flames. Her mother and brother succumbed to their wounds while her father, who went to help them, was shot by the terrorists and killed on the spot.

Ayelet (34) and Avigdor (37) became engaged in January. The event was widely reported in Israeli news outlets due to their stories being an indelible memory on Israel’s tragic times during the Second Intifida.

Before publicly announcing their engagement, the couple visited the cemetery of Avigdor’s family members, in Elon Moreh, and Ayelet’s family members, in Psagot, to include them, so to speak, in this joyous time in their lives.

May they live many healthy and happy years together. Terror will not succeed. The Jewish nation lives on! Am Yisrael Chai!
