Michael Flynn, former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency, testified that the proposed Iran nuclear deal “suffers from serious deficiencies,” categorized the Obama administration’s approach as “wishful thinking” and emphasized Israel may be pushed into a corner and forced to act.

In the meantime, the Americans have ongoing intelligence concerns about the pending deal with Iran.

Michael Flynn, former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency and President Barack Obama’s former military intelligence chief, told a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee Wednesday that the proposed deal “suffers from serious deficiencies,” including the intelligence community’s inability to verify full Iranian compliance with the agreement. Flynn categorized the Obama administration’s approach to the deal as “wishful thinking.”

“The intelligence community does not have complete ‘eyes on’ the totality of the Iranian nuclear program, nor can it guarantee that we have identified all of Iran’s nuclear facilities and processes,” Flynn testified. He said it was prudent to conclude “that there are elements of Iran’s nuclear program that still remain hidden from view.”

“Iran has every intention to build a nuclear weapon,” he cautioned, adding that “it is clear that the nuclear deal is not a permanent fix, but merely a placeholder.”

Flynn further charged that the Obama administration should address Iran’s ballistic missile program, but is refraining from doing so. He clarified that the conventional military development was actually “preparedness to weaponize a missile for nuclear delivery.”

Iran’s missiles will eventually be able to hit targets in the US, he warned, explaining that they already cover the Middle East and parts of Europe and that “Tehran already has the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the Middle East.”

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
