President Obama calls the four Jewish victims of Islamic terror at a kosher shop in Paris a “bunch of folks” who were “randomly” shot by a “zealot.”
US President Barack Obama claims that the four Jews intentionally murdered by a Muslim terrorist at the Hyper Cacher market in Paris in January were “a bunch of folks” who were “randomly” shot.
Obama made the statement during an interview with Vox Magazine on Monday, while seemingly downplaying the global threat of Islamic terror.
“It is entirely legitimate for the American people to be deeply concerned when you’ve got a bunch of violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris,” Obama said. He failed to acknowledge that the “zealot” who “randomly” shot “folks” was a Muslim terrorist and that the attack deliberately occurred at a kosher supermarket on a Friday afternoon, a busy time for food-shopping before the Sabbath.
The four “folks” butchered by a Muslim terrorist were Yohan Cohen, 22; Yoav Hattab, 21; Phillipe Braham, 45, and Francois-Michel Saada, 55.
An investigation into the attack clearly showed that the Muslim terrorist, Amedy Coulibaly, was looking to target Jews and had tried attacking a Jewish school before settling on the supermarket. He had also pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization.
The murder occurred during the same week of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, when an Islamic terrorist gunned down 10 journalists and two police officers at the magazine headquarters in Paris. Obama neither attended nor sent a high-ranking official to the rally in Paris against Islamic terror and in support of freedom of expression several days later, which was attended by dozens of leaders from around the world and millions of demonstrators.
WATCH Obama’s remarks:
“We devote enormous resources to that,” Obama said, referring to the war on terror, “and it is right and appropriate for us to be vigilant and aggressive in trying to deal with that — the same way a big city mayor’s got to cut the crime rate down if he wants that city to thrive.”
“We also have to attend to a lot of other issues, and we’ve got to make sure we’re right-sizing our approach so that what we do isn’t counterproductive,” he added. “I would argue that our invasion of Iraq was counterproductive to the goal of keeping our country safe.”
