While legitimate nations celebrate their histories and achievements on their anniversaries, the Palestinian Authority glorifies terror and death.

The Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Fatah faction, led by PA head Mahmoud Abbas, chose to celebrate its 50th anniversary by promoting terror, destruction and death.

Fatah marked the 50th anniversary of its “Launch”  its first terror attack carried against the Jewish State: an attempt to blow up the National Water Carrier, Israel’s largest water project, in 1965. It was two years before the liberation of eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria during the Six Day War; at the time, these so-called occupied lands were under Jordanian rule.

Fifty years and several peace accords later, Fatah is still promoting violence and “martyrdom” as “legitimate resistance” and an ideal to strive for, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports.

During December, Fatah posted several items on its official Facebook page that either promote the use of arms to fight Israel or encourage Palestinians to seek death for Allah.

One of the first images Fatah disseminated on its “birthday” was a gruesome photo depicting a mound of skulls with Jewish stars on them. The text accompanying the photo declares: “We remain on your skulls.”

Another text describes Fatah as the movement that “has taught us to love the homeland, and to love to die for it.”

Other posts instruct Palestinian-Arabs: “Take up your arms again, so that your enemy won’t find rest,” or extols the “Fatah – a revolution that never dies.”

Fatah has also used the occasion of its anniversary to glorify past terror attacks.

One Facebook post included a poster from the fifth anniversary of “the Launch” of Fatah, on January 1st, 1970, showing images of what appear to be terror attacks in various Israeli cities. Fatah boasts that it is “everywhere; Lydda [Lod], Tel Aviv, Haifa, Eilat.”

PMW reports that in October, when Palestinians were rioting and carrying out terror attacks in Jerusalem, the PA took an active role in inciting to further violence, as Fatah stated: “Load the machine gun with bullets – the machine gun is the path to my salvation.”

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
