The Palestinian Authority’s incitement continues, this time alleging that Israel and the US are behind the wave of Islamic terror in Europe.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) continues to repeat what seems to have become its mantra: Israel and the US created the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization, and they direct terror as a means to destabilize and dominate the Muslim world for political means, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports.

In early January, Fatah Central Committee and PLO Executive Committee member Saeb Erekat made remarks, not for the first time, comparing Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ISIS. Official PA TV quoted Erekat as saying that there was “no difference between the terrorism practiced by Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi’s gang [ISIS] and Israeli terrorism.”

Erekat made similar comments in September when he said that the reason behind the extremism in the region is the continuation of the “Israeli occupation,” the suffering of the Palestinian people and the “terror” carried out by Israel and the “settlers.”

Fatah spokesman Ahmad Assaf reiterated the claim that Israel is worse than ISIS when responding to then Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird’s request, during a visit to the region in January, that Erekat apologize to Netanyahu for such statements. “The occupation [Israel] is the worst form of terrorism, no less abominable than the terrorism of the Islamic State, and in fact [even] more abominable,” Assaf underscored.

Fatah Revolutionary Council member Bakr Abu Bakr made similar libel claims in an op-ed published in the official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, asserting: “Islamic State and its ilk are not the only prominent examples of the promotion of hatred, terror and loathing linked to religion and nationalism… The Zionist terrorism in Palestine is the most abominable example in the world, far outdoing all the others.”

PMW documented the PA and Fatah vilification of Israel following the the murderous attacks in Paris in January 2015 by Muslim terrorists that claimed 17 lives, alleging that Israel must have been behind them because it “was the only one to benefit from them.”

Muwaffaq Matar, a regular columnist for the official PA daily, suggested that Netanyahu was responsible for the attacks committed by Muslim terrorists and that Israel and the US are partners in a conspiracy, making use of terror organizations to achieve political gains.

These crimes were not “coincidences,” he said. “We believe there is a conspiracy at work, for the US and Israeli intelligence [services] are the greatest experts at exploiting the organizations that emerge in areas of conflict.”

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida published five articles over the summer accusing the US of establishing ISIS. “The wars in Libya, Iraq, Syria and Palestine were planned by the US in order to protect its interests… The ISIS, Islamic Front, and Al-Nusra Front [i.e., all radical Islamists] are Muslims from various countries the US is using to fight in Iraq and Syria, in order to fragment the unity of these two Arab countries… We are now more aware that the Americans, who want to fight for their own interests using Islamic, Jewish and Christian believers, are truly the head of the snake,” the PA daily declared.

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
