The Hungarian ambassador to Lebanon joined a delegation from the Egyptian Workers Union on a visit to a Hezbollah monument celebrating jihad against Israel!

Hezbollah, also known as Party of God, is a violent Shi’a Muslim group committed to the destruction of the Jewish state. Hezbollah has been labeled a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) by the U.S. State Department since October 1997.

The Hungarian ambassador to Lebanon visited a Hezbollah monument for Jihadi tourism notwithstanding the fact that the European Union had listed Hezbollah’s military wing as a terrorist organization in July 2013.

The Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which monitors and translates Arabic-language media, educational tools and religious sermons, exposed a report on Lebanese Al-Manar TV on Feb. 28 on the Hungarian ambassador’s visit to the Mleeta monument for Jihadi tourism in southern Lebanon.

Hungarian Ambassador Reportedly Expressed ‘Admiration’ for Hezbollah

According to the report, “the delegation toured the site, expressing admiration for Hezbollah’s capabilities and the spoils it has taken from the Israeli enemy.”

The Hungarian ambassador “expressed his admiration at Hezbollah’s great achievement in Lebanon at liberating the land and the people.”

Coincidentally, Hungary has declared 2014 – the 70th anniversary of the deportation and murder of Hungarian Jewry – Holocaust Memorial Year. A group of Hungarian Holocaust survivors visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem last Wednesday marking the event.

Israel’s Chief Rabbis Yitzhak Yosef and David Lau and Deputy Minister for Religious Services Eli Ben-Dahan joined hundreds of rabbis from across Europe for a Holocaust memorial ceremony on Monday in Budapest, where anti-Semitism is reportedly on the rise, including among government officials.

In February, Rafi Schutz of the Israeli foreign ministry summoned Hungarian ambassador to Jerusalem Andor Nagy to express “deep concern” over the surge in anti-Semitism.
