In a recent speech, the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña Palacios, announced a firm commitment to Israel and promised to move the Paraguayan embassy to Jerusalem.
'The world appreciates countries that stand firmly behind bold decisions and not countries that change their mind after a few months,' said Israeli Deputy Minister Michael Oren.
Israel and Paraguay maintain close relations on a number of levels and collaborate in a number of areas including water, agriculture, education and medicine.

The delivery was handled by the Israeli embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay’s capital, and is part of Israel’s global effort to provide aid to developing countries.
Israel provided food and assistance kits to Paraguayans impacted by massive flooding of the Paraguay River from El Niño storms during December, and four IsraAID volunteers have traveled to Leeds, UK to begin repairing homes and distributing food to victims of devastating floods in the area.
Paraguay, which experienced massive flooding in the month of December, is the latest Israeli destination for providing expert humanitarian assistance to countries in need.
