Muhammad Ayman al-Saadi, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander killed in a shootout with Israeli security forces in the village of Burqin on Thursday morning, was involved the abduction of a Druze boy from a Palestinian hospital last week.
Tiran Fero, an 18-year-old student from the Druze village of Daliyat al-Karmel was hospitalized in Jenin after being critically injured in a car crash. Palestinian gunmen, apparently believing Fero was an undercover Israeli soldier, abducted him from the hospital.
Fero’s family says the boy was killed when the gunmen disconnected Tiran from medical equipment at Jenin’s Ibn Sina Hospital. The gunmen eventually released the body and Fero was laid to rest on what would have been his 18th birthday.
Saadi commanded the PIJ’s Jenin Brigade. According to the Israeli military officials, Saadi was responsible for a number of shooting attacks, and provided weapons to other terrorists.
Also killed alongside Saadi was Naeem Jamal Zubaidi, a member of the Fatah-affiliated Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.
In an ongoing sweep against terror in Judea and Samaria, the IDF has thwarted 500 terror attacks and arrested more than 2,500 suspects. Operation Wave Breaker was launched by the IDF following a surge of Palestinian terror attacks in the spring which killed 19 people.
Overall, 31 people have been killed in Palestinian terror attacks in 2022.
