Meron Reuben, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, recently met with United with Israel representatives at Israel’s Mission to the UN to answer questions submitted by UWI’s Facebook community.

While thousands of questions were submitted, the Ambassador’s staff crystallized them into four basic categories. Click below to watch the video:

Reuben noted that “there is a great lack of knowledge about what is really going on in Israel and this was a great opportunity to address people’s questions from all over the world”. The Ambassador thanked United with Israel for facilitating this question and answer session and for its important “hasbara” (Public Relations) efforts on behalf of Israel.

“The questions chosen were certainly ones that are on everyone’s mind”, said United with Israel’s Michael Gerbitz. “The world sees Israel in the news every day, usually portrayed in a negative light. But more and more – people are seeing through the smokescreen and realizing what Israel is really all about. They are thirsty for knowledge of the truth and that is what we are here for.”

United with Israel is grass-roots pro-Israel organization founded by Jewish families, many of whom emigrated to Israel in recent years. While UWI is a Jewish organization, its supporters include people from all over the world, regardless of religion, race or culture.

Eli Mondrow, one of the attending UWI members to meet with the Ambassador is hoping to fulfill his dream of moving his young family to Israel in the very near future. Until then, he is thrilled to strengthen United with Israel’s efforts from across the ocean. He submitted the final question to the Ambassador which was probably the most popular one: “What can we do to help Israel?”

United with Israel has been contacted by Israeli officials to organize more events such as this. Last month, to inaugurate its IDF Gift Baskets campaign, UWI members met with Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon in Jerusalem and received his full endorsement.

This ‘Question and Answer’ session was co-sponsored by United with Israel and Israel’s Mission to the United Nations. The questions that were selected were submitted by citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Honduras. Other Q&A sessions are now being arranged by UWI with various Israeli ambassadors all over the world.

Recently, Prime Minister Netanyahu answered the world’s questions on Youtube’s Worldview channel. Public relations events such as these are helpful in boosting Israel’s image around the world. This is truly what the State of Israel needs at this time.
