Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday met in Jerusalem with US Senator Steve Daines (R-MT).
Netanyahu expressed his solidarity with Daines over the wildfires in Montana and noted the challenge facing Israel on the issue and how it has dealt with the phenomenon.
The two also discussed the fight against Iran and its proxies, including the threat in the north posed by Hezbollah, as well as strengthening the special relationship between Israel and the US.
They also spoke about artificial intelligence, including the challenges and opportunities in the field and the need for cooperation between countries vis-à-vis its current and future implications, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Also participating in the meeting were the Strategic Affairs Minister, the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, the Head of the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, the Prime Minister’s Foreign Policy Advisor and the Head of the North America Desk at the National Security Council.
Following the meeting, Rachel Dumke, the senator’s deputy communications director, told JNS, “Israel is one of the United States’ most important and cherished allies.”
Daines thanked Netanyahu for his “steadfast leadership” and heard firsthand about the challenges Israel faces, Dumke added.
The senator also reaffirmed “our commitment to stand in solidarity with Israel” and discussed “how our nations can further strengthen their partnership in countering the world’s leading sponsor of terror in Iran and achieving energy security,” Dumke said, according to JNS.
