A small group of protesters in front of Reem’s California bakery in Oakland alerted potential customers to the terrorist background of the woman honored in the eatery’s giant mural.
Reem Assil, the owner of Reem’s California, an Oakland bakery serving traditional Arab “street foods,” created a huge mural inside her eatery in honor of Rasmea Odeh.
Odeh, member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror organization, was convicted in two bombings in 1969, one of which killed two Hebrew University students, as well as the bombing of the British Consulate in Tel Aviv.
Sentenced to life in prison, Odeh was released after 10 years in a prisoner exchange with the PFLP. She was later convicted of immigration fraud in the US.
Assil refuses to take the mural down, choosing instead to publish a Facebook post attacking the protesters as “racists bullies” and blaming President Donald Trump for the attention the mural drew.
