Professor Itay Pesach and his dedicated team at Schneider Children’s Hospital who played a crucial role in providing care and support to 29 hostages, including 12 children, who were recently released after being held captive in Gaza.
In a heartfelt video statement, Professor Pesach acknowledged the profound impact of the ordeal, describing it as one of the most challenging weeks of his life.
Expressing concern for the psychological well-being of the victims, he likened their stories to those of individuals from the Second World War, emphasizing the urgent need for nationwide therapy to address the collective trauma endured by the affected individuals and the entire country.
“We don’t tell these stories. Their stories are not mine to tell. We are caretakers and we are here for them and when the time is right they will tell their story, but when they do, I don’t think any of us will be able to sleep at night or sit in silence.”
