This week is the 40th anniversary of Operation Opera, in which Israel destroyed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s nuclear reactor.

In this clip, ex-Israeli pilot Brg. Gen. (Res.) Israel Shafir recalls Operation Opera, during which he and his team flew a daring mission to Iraq.

The operation was launched to destroy a nuclear site developed by the brutal Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

The surprise airstrike proved the Israeli Air Force could launch decisive strikes far away from the Jewish state.
