The Jobar Synagogue, nearly 3,000 years old and once a symbol of Syria’s vibrant Jewish community now lies in ruins after being destroyed during the Syrian Civil War in 2014.

Once home to thousands of Jews in cities like Damascus and Homs, Syria’s Jewish population has dwindled to just nine people, with most fleeing due to rising anti-Semitism and ongoing conflict.

Despite the devastation, surviving members and Jewish expats cling to hope, expressing a deep desire to rebuild the synagogue, even as the remnants of this ancient structure serve as a haunting reminder of a community on the brink of extinction.
