The chances that the publisher will fix these falsehoods are “very small” unless “other Jewish groups [speak] out,” says the president of the Zionist Organization of America.

“We would like the publisher to ask Obama to rewrite those portions [of his book] about Israel that are filled with lies,” said Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) head Morton Klein in a letter to publisher Penguin Random House.

The ZOA’s letter, which can be read by clicking here, details 15 “falsehoods” in Obama’s “A Promised Land” book and asks the the publisher to correct the errors and omissions.

“Having received complaints from our supporters and conducting our own review, we are deeply concerned about the factual inaccuracies, material omissions and outright falsehoods [in the book],” says the letter, which was signed by ZOA Chairman Mark S. Levenson and Susan B. Tuchman, director of the Center for Law & Justice.

The letter notes that the book’s “enormous reach and influence” necessitated “the most scrupulous fact-checking possible,” which appears not to have been carried out with respect to the 15 falsehoods identified by the ZOA.

“We hope that the book publisher respects the truth and integrity and we want him to have the portion of Israel rewritten to only have accurate facts and to release any new editions with a changed accurate chapter about Israel,” Klein told World Israel News this week.

Klein concluded that “the book violates the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism,” World Israel News reported.

According to Klein, the chances that the publisher will fix these falsehoods are “very small” unless “other Jewish groups [speak] out.”

“It’s not only deeply troubling but it enables the publisher not to have to worry about the anti-Israel lies in the book,” he added.

I am writing in connection with President Obama’s “A Promised Land” book to request that you correct the 15 falsehoods about Israel that were outlined in the Zionist Organization of America’s Feb. 23, 2021 letter to you. Like the ZOA, I am deeply concerned about the factual inaccuracies, material omissions and outright falsehoods in Obama’s book, which should be revised.
