A startling new German intelligence report revealed that hundreds of Hamas and Hezbollah operatives are living inside Germany, Legal Insurrection reported.

According to the 317-page annual report, released last week by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency — the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) — 300 Hamas and 950 Hezbollah members call Germany home.
“The supporters of Islamist-terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, whose aim is to destroy the Jewish state of Israel, are focused on their region of origin [Middle East] and primarily conducts acts of terrorist violence there,” the report stated, according to a translation provided by Legal Insurrection.
The number of Hezbollah members living inside Germany has swelled since last year’s BfV report. According to 2015 estimates, only 360 supporters of the Lebanese terror group were active in Germany.
The German intelligence report also revealed some 8,350 Salafists — who adhere to a radical Islamist ideology — and more than 1,000 Muslim Brotherhood members are operating inside the country. The specific number of Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaeda operatives inside Germany were not mentioned in the report.
Regarding support for ISIS, up until December 2015, some 800 German nationals traveled to Iraq and Syria with the express purpose of joining the jihadist terror group, the intelligence report said. Approximately 20 percent were women and a third have returned to Germany, many with terrorist training.
The groundbreaking report also confirmed that since signing the nuclear deal with world powers in July 2015, Iran has increased its efforts to obtain illegal materials to build a nuclear weapon.
Despite signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with P5+1 powers — which includes Germany — Iran has been attempting to acquire illicit material in Germany, “especially goods that can be used in the field of nuclear technology.”
The BfV report added that there is also “a further increase in the already considerable procurement efforts in connection with Iran’s ambitious missile technology program which could, among other things, potentially serve to deliver nuclear weapons.”
“Against this backdrop it is safe to expect that Iran will continue its sensitive procurement activities in Germany using clandestine methods to achieve its objectives,” the report said.
In response to the BfV report, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told the Bundestag on Thursday, “Iran continued unabated to develop its rocket program in conflict with the relevant provisions of the UN Security Council.”
On Friday, German Foreign Minister spokesman Martin Schaefer told reporters that Iran appears to be attempting to undermine the JCPOA.
“There are forces within Iran for which the policies of the country’s president and foreign minister are a thorn in the eye,” he said. “They may be trying, one way or another, to undermine or torpedo the nuclear deal and the normalization of relations between us and Iran. We are watching this closely.”
The new revelations come against the backdrop of repeated denials by Iran’s nuclear negotiation team — who maintained that Tehran’s pursuit of nuclear power is solely for “peaceful purposes” — despite statements by top Iranian officials indicating otherwise.
