Students for Justice in Palestine

Since October 7th, an alarming surge of antisemitism has swept through American colleges, with reports from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) revealing a staggering 140% increase in antisemitic incidents across the United States.

Unfortunately, the University of California, Berkeley, has become a focal point for these disturbing trends.

In a recent reprehensible act, a student group at Berkeley’s School of Law published a blood libel cartoon targeting the Jewish dean, employing a centuries-old antisemitic trope accusing Jews of heinous acts.

Moreover, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, some Berkeley students shockingly sided with Iran following its aggressive attack on Israel.

Iran’s aggressive attack on Israel involved the firing of more than 200 missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from its territory towards Israeli targets.

Despite the Iranian regime’s long history of sponsoring terrorism and inciting violence against Israel, these students chose to align themselves with the perpetrators rather than stand against hate and extremism.

This deplorable incident underscores the urgent need for action to combat antisemitism on college campuses.

It is imperative that the University of California, Berkeley, takes decisive action to address and combat the rising tide of antisemitism on its campus.

Now is the time to act, to stand up against hate, and to demand accountability from our educational institutions.

Subject: Urgent: Combat Antisemitism at Berkeley

Dear UC Berkeley Administration,

I’m deeply concerned about the recent surge of antisemitism at UC Berkeley. The incidents, including the publication of a blood libel cartoon and students denying Iran’s attack on Israel, are unacceptable.

As a supporter of tolerance, I urge you to take action. Implement measures to prevent antisemitic incidents, provide education on diversity, and foster a culture of respect.

Now is the time to stand against hate. Please prioritize this issue.

Sincerely,
