President Trump shared the 20-year-old’s raw appeal on his Truth Social account without commentary to let her powerful words speak for themselves.
After 15 months in captivity, Agam Berger wants the world to know she believes Donald Trump helped bring her home.
In a heartfelt message on social media on Monday, the former Hamas hostage spoke with urgency about those still trapped in Gaza’s tunnels.
“I want to take this chance to say to you, President Trump: thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Berger shared on social media.
“Thanks to you, we have returned home. But we must remember, there are still people who truly depend on you and are waiting for you to save them.”
“You’re my hope,” Berger continued. “I want to say that I went through many hardships there. The days didn’t pass – they stood still. Every night and day felt like an eternity. That’s how the people there feel, too. Today marks 500 days that they’ve been there, and they’re still counting the days. We need to act quickly to take everyone home. They’re just waiting for us to get them out.”
Berger was among five female observation soldiers kidnapped from the Nahal Oz base during the October 7th attacks.
Released in late January as part of a hostage-prisoner exchange, she ended with a heartfelt plea: “I beg you, don’t stop until all the hostages, the living and the dead, are brought home.”
In the depths of captivity, Agam Berger found strength through small acts of religious devotion.
Fellow hostages released in November 2023 revealed that she tried to observe Shabbat and continued to say blessings over the little scraps of food she was given occasionally by her captors.
Her quiet acts of faith moved her parents, Shlomi and Merav, to begin observing Shabbat themselves.
Berger’s plea made its way to Trump, and for once, the famously outspoken president held back.
