The IDF is investigating a crash landing of an air force plane that claimed the life of a crew member.
An Israel Air Force (IAF) pilot was killed Wednesday afternoon when an F-16 fighter jet crash-landed at the Ramon Airbase in the Negev.
The crew’s navigator was lightly injured and evacuated to a local hospital.
The deceased pilot was named as Ohad Cohen Nov, 34, married and a father of a young girl. His wife is expecting their second child.
Cohen Nov was named the squadron deputy commander only last week.
The IDF is investigating the incident. Initial findings showed that an imbalance in the wings caused an unexplained crash and fire.
The IAF had conducted several airstrikes over the Gaza Strip during the day in response to the firing of a rocket on the southern town of Sderot by Hamas. The crew was returning from one of the attack missions.
