The Middle East’s children, under the tutelage of Islamic terrorists, are growing up in a hate-filled environment, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor warns.
Across the Middle East, terrorists and extremists are poisoning the minds of the next generation, teaching them to hate, vilify and dehumanize Israelis and Jews, Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor warned Wednesday during his address to the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the issue of children and armed conflict.
“Around the world today children are exploited in conflict, targeted with violence and used as instruments of war. The crimes are horrendous,” Prosor said, mentioning Muslim terror organizations such as the Nigeria-based Boko Haram and Hamas, which have been exploiting children for terror purposes.
“In January of this year, Hamas – which sits in the Palestinian unity government – sent over 17,000 – I repeat, over 17,000 – Palestinian youngsters to 18 new terror training camps. The boys who attend these camps are trained to fire weapons, storm IDF posts and abduct IDF soldiers. The indoctrination of Palestinian children is nothing new,” he pointed out, demonstrating how from birth to adulthood, through the Palestinian media and the Palestinian education system, these children are taught to hate and kill.
“But you don’t have to take my word for it. Senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad said (and I quote), ‘For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry…. This is why [we] have formed human shields of the women, the children, [and] the elderly.’ The evidence is overwhelming. Hamas has no interest in building its people up – it is only committed to tearing Israel down,” the ambassador declared.
He then listed the recent attacks committed by Palestinian terrorists against Israeli children, including the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers last summer. “The Israeli people have learned too many painful lessons. Terrorists have robbed our children of their dreams, their childhood and their futures.”
Prosor quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, who said: “We will only have peace when our enemies love their children more than they hate ours.”
“We have lost an entire generation to incitement. Enough is enough,” Prosor concluded.
A New Generation of Jihadists
In February, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) released a report charging that Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists sell abducted Iraqi children at markets as sex slaves and torture them to death by burying them alive, crucifixion and other sadistic methods. “The scope of the problem is huge,” the report said.
ISIS is also notorious for its indoctrination of children, preparing them to be the next generation of Islamic terrorists.
ISIS has used children in its recorded executions.
Maria Abi-Habib, reporting for the Wall Street Journal, interviewed child soldiers who escaped ISIS and told of the lessons they received in beheading.
“The enrollment of hundreds of boys in such militant training camps could trouble the Middle East for years to come,” Abi-Habib warned.
