“Everyone has an opinion on Israel. They don’t have an opinion on the debates that happen inside other countries,” says Israeli prime minister.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on foreign countries that press Israel on its internal affairs, emphasizing: “We’ll make our own decisions.”

In an interview with Mark Levin on Fox News aired Sunday, Netanyahu said that he, as a democratically-elected leader, has always chosen not to involve himself in the internal debates of other countries.

“I’ve been elected again and again six time democratically, a total of 16 years. In all these 16 years, I never commented on the internal debates in other democracies. I’ve just chosen not to do that now,” he said.

“Other elected leaders can decide to do that [on] Israel – everyone has an opinion on Israel. They don’t have an opinion on the riots in France, or the debates that happen inside other countries,” he continued.

He noted that “you have a major debate right now between the Supreme Court and Executive Branch in America.”

“I really don’t care to comment about it, but if people choose to comment about [our internal situation], it’s okay, we’ll make our own decisions.”

He stressed that “in sovereign democracies, the elected representatives of the people make the decisions, and that’s how it’s going to be in Israel.”

Last week, US President Joe Biden gave a statement to Axios in which he commented on the debate in Israel over judicial reform.

“It looks like the current judicial reform proposal is becoming more divisive, not less,” Biden said in the statement.

“Given the range of threats and challenges confronting Israel right now, it doesn’t make sense for Israeli leaders to rush this – the focus should be on pulling people together and finding consensus,” he added.
