New York State lit up orange Friday night in somber tribute to a mother and her two young children who were murdered in Hamas captivity.

The illuminated landmarks stood in memory of the Bibas family – Shiri and her sons Ariel, 4, and baby Kfir, just 9 months old

“Our hearts are broken as we mourn Ariel and Kfir Bibas, who were brutally murdered by Hamas in an act of callous and unthinkable cruelty,” Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement.

“I join the millions around the world honoring their memory and demanding that Hamas immediately return the remains of Shiri Bibas home to Israel.”

Fourteen state landmarks were illuminated in their memory, including One World Trade Center, Niagara Falls, the Empire State Plaza in Albany, Moynihan Train Hall in New York City, and several bridges.

Hamas was meant to return on Thursday 9-month-old Kfir, 4-year-old Ariel, and their mother Shiri Bibas, 33. Instead, they deliberately sent the wrong body, swapping Shiri’s remains with those of a Gazan woman.

When her actual remains were delivered Friday, Dr. Chen Kugel, director of Tel Aviv’s National Institute of Forensic Medicine, confirmed she had been brutally murdered along with her children, finding no evidence to support Hamas’s claims of an airstrike death.

“Our examination found no evidence of injuries caused by bombing,” he stated.

“Since Thursday morning we have worked professionally and carefully to provide clear answers to the Lifshitz and Bibas-Silberman families. It’s a difficult day for the families, for us, the medical staff, and for the entire nation of Israel.”

Of course, no amount of scientific evidence will stop Hamas from denying their heinous crimes.

“The false allegations that the criminal Israeli occupation is disseminating about the death of the Bibas children at the hands of their captors are merely baseless lies and fabrications,” Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem wrote in response on Telegram.
