The rankings are based on various factors, such as the number of times an institution’s researchers have been published or cited in leading journals and awards the school has won.

Three Israeli universities cracked the world’s top 100 institutions and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev climbed a dramatic 200 places in the prestigious Shanghai Rankings released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy on Thursday morning.
The Weizmann Institute in Rehovot was rated Israel’s top overall university at number 69, a fall of two spots from last year.
Hebrew University was ranked at 81, rising four spots from 2023.
And the Haifa-based Technion claimed 85th place, a fall of two rankings.
While the top 100 universities are ranked in numerical order, an additional 900 top institutions are ranked in groups, which included four other Israeli institutions.
Ben-Gurion University of the Negev showed the most dramatic increase, ranking in the 310-400 group after being rated in the 501-600 group last year.
For the second consecutive year, Tel Aviv University placed in the 201-300 group, Bar-Ilan University was rated 401-500 and Haifa University was ranked in the 601-700 group.
The rankings are based on various factors, such as the number of times an institution’s researchers have been published or cited in leading journals and awards won by faculty members and alumni.
Eight of the top 10 universities were located in the U.S., including Harvard, which came in first place overall.
