Around 8 p.m., security cameras caught an unidentified man strolling down Lehi Street with a suspicious backpack. Sources from security and police confirmed that the bag contained a bomb.
The device detonated unexpectedly, killing the man carrying it and injuring a 33-year-old man who was riding an electric scooter nearby.
The explosion reverberated through a nearby synagogue, where stunned worshipers are calling it a “great miracle” that the failed attack didn’t cause more casualties.
Hamas has claimed responsibility for an attempted terror attack in Tel Aviv earlier this week involving a powerful explosive.
Fortunately, only one person sustained moderate injuries when the bomb the terrorist was carrying detonated in his backpack, killing him instantly.… pic.twitter.com/1CXw7NYEQi
