In southern Israel, Elyasaf, a humble painter, transformed stark, lifeless bomb shelters into vibrant havens with murals of birds, sunsets, landscapes, and other beautiful imagery.

When the horrors of October 7th struck, those seeking refuge in these shelters relied on Elyasaf’s artwork to describe their locations, as the shelters had no addresses.

What Elyasaf thought was a simple painting activity turned out to be a life-saving mission, showing that sometimes the most ordinary actions can have extraordinary, life-altering significance.
