In 1972, members of the Japanese Red Army recruited by the Palestinian Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist group attacked travelers at Israel’s Lod Airport, killing 24 and wounding 70. Recently, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ party, Fatah, praised the attack in a Facebook post.

The political party of Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas praised Japanese terrorists who murdered 24 people when they attacked Israel’s Lod Airport in 1972.

Three members of the Japanese Red Army recruited by the Palestinian Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist group opened fire and threw grenades, killing eight Israelis and 16 foreign tourists and wounding 70 others.

The post on Fatah’s official Facebook page Wednesday came ahead of the anniversary of the attack.

“A thousand greetings to the Japanese fighter and comrade Kozo Okamoto, the hero of the Lod airport operation,” the post reads, accompanied by photo showing pools of blood on the floor next to torn and scattered luggages.

Munir Jaghob, a Fatah media official, said “We are proud of all the people who worked for the Palestinian cause.”

The Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), an Israeli group, accused Fatah of having a policy of “glorifying terrorists on the date of their attacks.”

PMW has documented several such incidents.

Two of the terrorists were killed during the attack, while Okamoto was arrested and sentenced to 3 life sentences, but was released in the Jibril Agreement in May 1985, after only 13 years of imprisonment, when Israel agreed to release 1,150 Palestinian prisoners, including terrorist murderers, in exchange for three Israeli soldiers who had been taken hostage by the PFLP.

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
